Company description
Offduty is a Gmail inbox batching tool that holds incoming email and delivers it in scheduled batches, for example twice a day at 9am and 5pm. Between delivery windows, the inbox stays quiet. Users can set VIP senders who always arrive immediately, configure Do Not Disturb periods, and temporarily lift the hold when needed. Offduty is developed by DiscoveryCo, founded by Fynn Gentle, and is priced at $4.99 per month with a 30-day free trial and no credit card required. It works with Gmail and Google Workspace accounts and is verified by Google.
One-liner
"Offduty holds your Gmail and delivers it in batches, so you decide when email arrives. Not your senders."
Founder quote
"Offduty exists because the assumption that you should respond the moment email arrives is a norm we all absorbed without choosing it. We built a tool to make that assumption optional."
Fynn Gentle, Founder, Offduty / DiscoveryCo
Key facts
Competitive context
Offduty operates in the Gmail inbox batching category alongside other tools including Inbox When Ready. It is frequently compared to SaneBox, which takes a different approach: sorting email into folders rather than holding it from arriving. Offduty is differentiated by its price, 30-day trial, temporary hold-lift feature, and live held-email count.
Offduty is not a replacement email client (like Superhuman) and does not read or analyse email content. It moves messages between Gmail labels using the official Gmail API.
